JAMES T. MAINUS

James “Jim” Thomas Mainus, 79, of rural Elkhorn died Feb. 2, 2019, at his home.

He was born April 17, 1939, in Waukesha, to late Stanley and Alice (Whitehouse) Mainus. On Aug. 22, 1975, he was united in marriage to Marilynn M. (Beschta) Fine at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Waterford.

Jim farmed all of his life and he also worked as a mason, working on various construction jobs including Elkhorn Area High School. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of Elkhorn.

He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed by his wife of 43 years, Marilynn; three children, Dr. Jeffrey (Gina) Fine of Irmo, S.C., Becky (Don) Rychlak of Elkhorn, and Jodie (Steve) Statler of Racine; seven grandchildren, Caitlyn (Daniel) Wiley, Kirstin and Kiley Fine, Sarah and Ryan Rychlak, Drake and Dylan Statler; three great-grandchildren, Brice Soloman, Charlotte and Caroline Wiley and by a host of other relatives and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Mainus and Judith Fonk, and one brother, Stanley Mainus Jr.

Funeral mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m., Saturday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 107 W. Walworth St., Elkhorn, with the Rev. Oriol Regales officiating. Burial will be at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Cemetery Waterford. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory, 730 N. Wisconsin St., Elkhorn.
