Whitewater races feature intrigue heading into April election

Here is a rundown of the candidates who will be on the April 2 ballot for the spring election in the Whitewater area:

City of Whitewater

Four seats are on the ballot for Whitewater City Council in April.

Three incumbents are running for re-election but are unopposed: Carol McCormick in Aldermanic District 1, McKinley Palmer in District 3 and Patrick Singer for the member at-large spot.

Meanwhile, District 3 incumbent Christopher Grady faces a challenge from Brienne Diebolt-Brown.

In the race for municipal judge, incumbent Richard Kelly is retiring, so Chad Buehler squares off against Patrick Taylor.

Arthur Coleman also tried to enter the fray for judge, but site login issues reportedly meant he couldn’t file his statement of economic interests in time and thus could not be on the ballot.

Coleman’s problem also means that Whitewater will not hold a primary in February.

Town of Whitewater

There will be no primary or suspense on the Whitewater Town Board.

Chairman Lowell Hagen and town supervisors Norm Prusener and Bob Strand will have no challengers.

WUSD

Incumbent Jim Stewart is up for re-election, while Amy Hagen Curtis and Jennifer Kienbaum also are running for two open seats on the Whitewater School Board.

One of the seats was left open because Brian Brunner is not seeking re-election.
