The first eight games of the season gave Delavan-Darien High School’s girls basketball team three wins, which marked one more win than the team had all of last season (two). Going into last week, the Comets had one game over a two-week stretch, and it came on Dec. 28 at home against Beloit Turner.

This was the first of a six-game home stretch for the team, however, Beloit Turner won on the Comets’ home court 41-32. The 32 points scored marked the second lowest point total of the season for Delavan-Darien.

The Comets lost the second half by just one point, however, the eight-point differential in the first half led to the defeat. Only one player in the entire game scored at least 10 points – Beloit Turner’s Olivia Tinder with 11. The leading Comet scorer was Annyce Peralta with nine.

The loss for the team marked its third straight after starting the season with a 3-3 record. Starting at 7 p.m. on Jan. 4 against Waterford, Delavan-Darien will play five consecutive home games. Following Waterford, the Comets will host Clinton for a 7 p.m. tip on Jan. 8.

Waterford owns an 8-3 record, while Clinton is 3-7.
