Local board seats on spring ballot

Candidates can begin circulating nomination papers Dec. 1

Even though the November mid-term election was just a few weeks ago, local politicians need to start gearing up for the April 2, 2019, spring election.

Candidates for local board seats may begin circulating nomination papers on Dec. 1. Nomination papers are due by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019.

Board member selecting not to run for re-election need to file declarations of non-candidacy by by 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 21.

Should a primary election be needed, it will be on Feb. 19, 2019.

Municipal board seats up for election next year include:

Village of East Troy

The East Troy Village Board president’s seat will be on the spring ballot. Scott Seager has been the board president since 2017.

Three village trustee seats are also on the spring ballot. The terms being served by Alex Alger, John Jacoby and John Alexander are up in April.

The Village of East Troy is governed by the Village Board of seven elected members with 2-year terms that have staggered expiration dates. The board meets first and third Mondays, at 6:30 p.m. in the Board Room at the Village Hall.

Town of East Troy

In the Town of East Troy, the Town Board chairman seat, held by Joe Klarkowski, is up for election as are the seats held by Supervisors Clayton Montez and Barb Church.

Town Board terms are two years.

Nomination papers can be obtained at Town Hall, N9330 Stewart School Road, East Troy.

Town of Troy

The Town of Troy Board is up for re-election with the seats held by Town Board Chairman John Kendall and Supervisors Kathleen Tober and Thomas Lorden all on the April ballot.

All terms are for two years.

School Board

The East Troy Community School District has two open seats for School Board members for the April 2, 2019, election. School Board President Ted Zess and Vice-President Dawn Buchholtz are up for re-election in 2019.

Applications are available at the District Office, 2040 Beulah Ave., East Troy, WI 53120 or call 262-642-6710 ext. 1221 to have an application mailed.

Applications are due in the District Office by 5 p.m. on Jan. 2, 2019.
