Holiday Care Program gears up

The Walworth County Department of Health and Human Services is seeking donations of new toys and new clothing for children, gift cards to local retail stores for teenagers and money to purchase food gift certificates for families during the holiday season.

The Holiday Care Program provides assistance to families, seniors and individuals who are disabled in Walworth County by providing gifts for children and food gift cards to those in need who might otherwise go without a holiday meal or a few gifts during the holiday season.

Once again this year, toy collection boxes are located at all Walworth County buildings plus businesses throughout the area. Donations can also be dropped off at Walworth County Department of Health and Human Services, W4051 County Road NN, Elkhorn.

The Holiday Care Program is funded by donations from individuals, church groups, area businesses, other organizations and fundraisers held by the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office and Walworth County Health and Human Services.

Donations go directly to the program and no donations are used for administrative expenses. The department’s annual Holiday Care Program has served more than 8,000 families since 2004.

Monetary donations can be made payable to Walworth County Holiday Care and sent to the attention of the Holiday Care Program at Walworth County Department of Health and Human Services, P.O. Box 1005, Elkhorn, WI 53121. All other donations can be delivered to the Health and Human Services Center, attention Holiday Care at W4051 County Road NN, Elkhorn, west of Aurora Lakeland Medical Center. Donations are tax deductible and receipt forms are available at the Health and Human Services Center.

Individuals or groups who wish to donate to the 2018 Holiday Care Program or who need information on how to “adopt a family” for the holiday season, should contact Patricia Crement at 262-741-3746 or pcrement@co.walworth.wi.us.
