Kristin Mickelson was hired as the City of Whitewater’s public relations and communications director in January 2017.

The Janesville native graduated from UW-Whitewater in 2008 and worked with Blains Farm & Fleet for eight years, the last four in the PR arena.

She runs the department and handles all of the administrative tasks, concentrating on the city’s website and social media efforts.

Mickelson also oversees production and programming on Whitewater Community Television (Charter digital channel 990).

However, she relies on a threesome of students to provide the bulk of the content for the station.

These three young videographers who film the city’s stories are Zac Popke, Andra Matthews and Haley Dieter.

They all graduated from Whitewater High School and stayed home to attend college.

Popke is a junior majoring in political science, Dieter is a sophomore studying musical therapy and Matthews is a freshman psychology major.
