The City of Elkhorn Common Council voted unanimously in favor of approving Strand Associates to conduct a review of the City’s Nettesheim Lift Station at its Oct. 15 meeting.

Alderman Tim Shiroda was absent from that meeting however, he had voted in favor of sending the project to the full Council at the Committee of the Whole meeting the week prior.

Department of Public Works Operation Manager Matt Lindstrom first brought the topic to council in August, noting that during heavy rain events there have been some capacity issues with the collection system that flows to the lift station.

Lindstrom told councilmembers at the Committee of the Whole meeting the Walworth County Metropolitan Sewerage District – known as WalCoMet – is currently contracting with Strand Associates to have its collection system review.

Lindstrom said he had talked with Strand, and as its already analyzing WalCoMet’s system, it makes sense to have the firm analyze Elkhorn’s Lift Station 2, at the former Mann Bros. site, to determine if it’s sized appropriately to handle the Nettesheim lift station’s collection system.
