Elks swimmers crunch opponent

The Elks won eight of 11 events and beat Delavan-Darien 119-49 Oct. 16 in a Southern Lakes Conference girls high school swimming dual meet at Elkhorn.

Elkhorn swims Saturday in the SLC Varsity Meet at Delavan-Darien High School in Delavan.

Coach Jamie Richardson said the Elks posted 36 personal best times against the Comets.

“That was pretty good,” Richardson said. “It’s sometimes tough, when the competition isn’t there, to rise to the occasion and get personal best times. That was nice to see from the girls.”

Kaylee Dodge, Alyssa Ambrose, Megan Weinstock and Celia Gahart won the 200-meter medley relay in 2:26.30.

Sydney Balboni won the 200 freestyle (2:28.00) and dropped more than 20 seconds off her previous best time.

Olivia Moore won the 50 freestyle (30.38) and 100 breaststroke (1:27.14). Sidney Murphy won the 400-meter freestyle (5:12.98).

Balboni, Emma Olson, Megan Turk and Anna Manak won the 200 freestyle relay (2:03.34) and Olson won the 100 backstroke (1:16.56).

Balboni, Murphy, Olson and Manak won the 400 freestyle relay (4:34.33).

Murphy finished second in the 200 individual medley (2:49.86) and dropped more than nine seconds from her previous best time. Turk finished third (2:50.06) and dropped more than two seconds.

Turk finished second in the 100 butterfly (1:19.86) and Balboni finished second in the 100 freestyle (1:07.85).
