The East Troy Community School District had its annual meeting Monday night and the residents in attendance approved a projected .47 percent tax levy increase for 2018-19.

District Business Manager Kathy Zwirgzdas cautioned, as she does every year, that number could change when the numbers on the property tax values come in in October and the School Board would approve the final tax levy at the Oct. 22 meeting.

The projected mill rate for the district was $9.70. Last year’s mill rate was $9.66.

The School District’s 2018-19 budget is just shy of $21 million. The 2017-18 unaudited budget came in at $19.5 million.

State of the District

School District Administrator Chris Hibner gave his annual State of the District presentation at Monday night’s annual meeting. He talked about the district’s “celebrations” saying he didn’t think the district spent enough time letting people know about the successes in the schools.
