The Delavan Common Council on Aug. 21 accepted a Department of Transportation traffic analysis of the affect the new Lakeside Center will have on Highway 50 east of Interstate 43. Fleet Farm is due to open in October, and Meijer has an agreement to purchase land at Highway 50 and North Shore Drive.

The developer, NRB Land LLC, has asked for signal lights at the entrance to the former Geneva Lakes Kennel Club. NRB will be responsible for the cost of improvements to the intersection of Highway 50 and the new Lakeside Boulevard.

The traffic analysis recommends traffic signals at the intersection with three lanes coming out of the Lakeside Center, two of them as left turn lanes and one as a right turn lane. The current single exit lane that comes out of Delavan Crossings very near Lakeside Boulevard’s intersection with Highway 50 will be rebuilt as a right-turn only signalized lane. There will still not be any traffic into Delavan Crossings at that location.

For more from the meeting, including further details about the traffic survey, a school district report and approval for an extension of Hobbs Drive, see the Sept. 6 Delavan Enterprise.
