ALVIN H. SUSINA

Alvin H. Susina, 76, passed away peacefully on Aug. 29, 2018, at his home after a courageous, nine-month battle with cancer.

He was born in Elgin, Ill. to the late Joseph and Lydia (Lenschow) Susina on Feb. 24, 1942. When he was 3, Alvin and his family moved to Elkhorn when they purchased their farm in the Town of LaFayette.

He graduated from Elkhorn Area High School and UW-Madison’s Farm and Industry Short Course. Alvin was a lifelong farmer, working alongside his father and brother on the family farm.

At age 62, Alvin married the love of his life, Marilyn (Dobrick) Stephan, on Sept. 18, 2004. He was an active member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Elkhorn and enjoyed spending time with family, friends and neighbors. He was an avid antique collector and attended many auctions. He was also a member of the International Harvester Collectors Club- WI Chapter 4.

Alvin is survived by his wife, Marilyn, of Elkhorn; stepdaughter, Shari (Dan) Strickhouser, of Elkhorn; step-son, Ronald Stephan, of Chicago, Ill.; step grandson, Kevin Strickhouser, of Elkhorn; sister, Nancy Cannon of Delhi, NY; brothers-in law, Robert Dobrick of Elkhorn, Jerry Dobrick of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; aunt and uncle, Ann (Milan) Susina of Ariz.; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers; Wayne Susina and infant twins, Ronald and Donald.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 6 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 415 Devendorf St., Elkhorn, with Pastor Preston Heuer officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday, Sept. 5, at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home, 730 N. Wisconsin St., Elkhorn, from 4 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
