Mixing media

Cultural arts center hosts art exhibit Aug. 2-Aug. 26

The Whitewater Arts Alliance is featuring a Making Magic With Mixed Media show at the Cultural Arts Center, 402 W. Main St., from Aug. 2 through Aug. 26.

The CAC will be open from noon to 5 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays during that time. The closing reception is scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 26.

Artists have pledged more than 80 pieces in 2D or 3D for this first-of-its-kind show at the center.

The goal of this exhibit is to stimulate interest in mixed media among artists from around the state. Artwork must be completed within the last two years and not previously exhibited at the CAC.

Three free demonstrations (all from 1 to 3 p.m.) using different materials and techniques in mixed media also are planned:

  • “Getting Acquainted With Alcohol Ink and Pen,” by Kathy Gibbs, Thursday Aug. 9
  • “Watercolor and Mixed Media,” by Karolyn Alexander, Friday, Aug. 17
  • “From Pop Can to Pop Art,” by Dawn Hunter, Thursday, Aug. 23

No reservations are required, but instructors would appreciate people letting them know if they plan to attend.

Interested parties should email Linda Long at Lcubed12@gmail.com or call 262-473-5538 with the demos of interest to them.
