Plan Commission looks at parameters for possible housing study

Although no formal directives have been given, a review of housing stock throughout Whitewater remains high on the minds of an appointed group overseeing land development and related issues.

In recent months, members of the city’s Plan and Architectural Review Commission have been discussing the possibility of seeking quotes from firms interested in studying Whitewater’s housing needs, particularly with single-family.

At a meeting July 9, commissioners combed through a nine-point list of recommendations related to the proposed study.

Review items include the types of housing desired in the short and long term, where specific housing types should be placed in the community and programs to foster some of the goals.

At the urging of Commissioner Kristine Zaballos, one of the recommended review items was knocked off the list, at least in the short term, so other review items can receive heavier focus.
