Christy Wopat’s captivating memoir about her hopes, her dreams, her loss, her grief, and ultimately, her healing, is a poignantly powerful and brutally honest account of what happens when tragedy hits.

Wopat, a native of Sharon whose maiden name is Furman, recently released her book, “Almost a Mother: Love, Loss, and Finding Your People When Your Baby Dies.”

The book is a personal memoir about a time in Christy’s life. In 2008, she and her husband, Brian, found out they were pregnant with twins.

“Unfortunately, they were born too early for an unknown reason and died after living only one day in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit,” Christy explained.

In an effort to find solace, she tried Googling, “What do I do when my baby dies?” Unfortunately, she discovered, there just aren’t many good resources out there – at least not any that are truly honest, not sugar-coated with clichés.

“The grief after losing my babies, along with not having any other children and so many other emotions, was incredibly difficult. I started keeping a blog online where I wrote out all the things that were happening and going through my mind,” Christy said.
