Golf tournament to benefit special needs children

The Geneva National Foundation and Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin will host the Chippin’ for Children golf tournament and auction July 30 to benefit Walworth County’s special needs community and the children and families throughout the state.

The golf open will take place on Geneva National Resort and Club’s Gary Player and Arnold Palmer courses and is co-sponsored by Kunes Country Auto Group and Principal Financial with support from gold sponsor Ortho Molecular.

“Since 2005, we’ve been donating our courses to benefit our neighbors with special needs,” said Pamela Chambers, Geneva National owner and president of the Geneva National Foundation Board. “Last year, for instance, we helped raise nearly $60,000 for the Never Say Never all-inclusive playground to be built in Veteran’s Park in Lake Geneva.”

This year’s event will support the Geneva National Foundation’s grant program and Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, the region’s only independent health care system dedicated solely to the health and well-being of children. In addition to the care delivered in its hospitals and clinics, Children’s provides neighborhood, community and school-based programs and services that reach kids throughout the state. In 2017, Children’s received 5,910 visits from kids in Walworth County.

“While the Geneva National Foundation continues to serve Walworth County’s special needs residents and organizations, we also recognize the great need for state-of-the-art health care for children in southeastern Wisconsin and beyond.” Chambers said.

“Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin is committed to bringing nation-leading pediatric care closer to home for all of Wisconsin’s kids and families,” said Meg Brzyski Nelson, president of the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin Foundation. “We are incredibly grateful for our partnership with the Geneva National Foundation and for the volunteer service of Garth L. Chambers, president of Paloma Resort Properties and member of Children’s Foundation Board of Directors. Children’s relies on the community’s generosity and events like Chippin’ for Children to help us help kids, and it is an honor to work together to make a difference for the kids and families who count on us.”

Cost for a foursome is $1,500 and includes world-class golf, a gourmet grab-n-go lunch, dinner at the clubhouse, a Bloody Mary bar on the putting greens and on-course entertainment including DJs, hole-in-one contests for a Kunes vehicle and snack and libation stations. A few sponsorships are still available. People traveling from Milwaukee have the opportunity to travel to and from the event on a bus sponsored by The Steakout.
