Friends of library have annual book sale

The Friends of the Lake Geneva Public Library will have its annual book sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 11 and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 12.

The sale will take place at the east end of Library Park in Lake Geneva. Friends members are invited from 4 to 6 p.m. Aug. 10 to a “members-only preview night” to purchase books before the sale opens to the general public.

Children’s paperbacks will be sold for 50 cents; children’s hardcovers, mass media paperback books, videos, and single CDs will be sold for $1; hardcover, trade paperback books and individual DVDs for $2; and Blu-rays and audiobooks for $5; and special books, DVD sets, rare, signed and collectable books are priced as marked.

The Friends reserve the right to make adjustments to book pricing, as needed. Funds raised from the sale make special projects possible including youth and adult programming, online book clubs, and new books, audio books and DVDs for the library collection.

Gently used book donations are welcome for the sale. Donations of textbooks, magazines, encyclopedias, records, VHS tapes and Reader’s Digest condensed books will not be accepted.

The Friends book sale is the major annual fund-raiser sponsored by the Friends of the Lake Geneva Public Library. It is managed solely by volunteers who devote their time to receive, sort and sell books for the tradition that draws book lovers and collectors from the area and out of state.

In addition to the book sale, historic LIFE Magazines will also be available for purchase as a part of the ongoing Friends of the Library LIFE magazine sale. The Friend’s LIFE magazine sale provides an opportunity to give a contribution to the library and purchase a gift for friends and family to commemorate birthdays, anniversaries or other special events or occasions.

The Friends welcome new members throughout the year with annual dues of $12 for individuals, $20 for families and $50 for businesses. Dues for lifetime membership are also popular and are offered with a one-time gift of $150. Enrollment applications are available at the library.
