State Rep. Amy Loudenbeck provided a Legislative update last week to the Darien Village Board that included discussing the closure of Darien Elementary School and school funding.

Loudenbeck said on July 16 she was very surprised when the Delavan-Darien School Board decided to close Darien Elementary School.

She said she has 10 school districts in her Assembly district and offered to be a resource to the village. She said some of the school districts in her district are heavily state-funded and some are not, and Delavan-Darien is pretty much in the middle.

Loudenback said the district ranks in the second lowest group for the revenue limit but still is similar to most districts in the state and is right about in the middle of what has been going on in the area.
