An East Troy man was sentenced June 28 to the maximum sentence for his role in the 2017 shooting death of an Illinois man at his Emery Court apartment.

Tyler Odell, 23, was sentenced to five years in prison and five years extended supervision for his role in the events that led to the fatal shooting of David Bauspies on Jan. 2, 2017.

A jury convicted Odell of a lesser offense than he was originally charged with. The jury did not find Odell guilty of first-degree reckless homicide as a party to a crime. He was instead convicted of homicide by negligent handling of a dangerous weapon as a party to a crime, an offense that carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.
