Dementia program to be presented at library

At 5:30 p.m. July 12 and 19, Bonnie Beam-Stratz of the Alzheimer’s Association will present a two-part program, “Living with Moderate Dementia,” at the Lake Geneva Public Library.

Beam-Stratz is the Alzheimer’s Association community outreach coordinator for Walworth County, and she has 30 years of experience in the dementia care field. Her program includes topics for caregivers of individuals with moderate Alzheimer’s disease or a related form of dementia. Topics to be covered include understanding the symptoms and care needs, understanding relationship changes, learning ways to maximize safety, preparation for emergencies, and learning how to get respite care. Effective strategies will also be discussed regarding personal care and managing challenging behaviors.
