A motion hearing is scheduled for July 23 for an Indiana man charged with sexually assaulting his daughter in Walworth County when she was 9 to 11 years old.
The man, 35, of Crawfordsville, Ind., was charged Dec. 28 in Walworth County Circuit Court with first-degree sexual assault, having contact with a child under 13 years old; two counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child under 12 years old; two counts of incest; and sexual exploitation of a child. He is not being named here to protect the identity of his daughter.
According to the criminal complaint, the girl told a forensic interviewer in May, when she was 16 years old, that her father had sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions beginning around the time she was 9 years old at her grandmother’s boyfriend’s home in the Town of Sugar Creek. She said on the first occasion, her father woke her up around midnight and had sexual intercourse with her, according to the complaint.
On one occasion when she was in fourth or fifth grade, the girl said her father videotaped the girl in a sex act, according to the complaint. The girl said her stepmother found the videotape and got angry with her father, according to the complaint.
On another occasion when she was in sixth grade, she said her father had sexual intercourse with her in the water while at a beach near her grandmother’s boyfriend’s house in Sugar Creek, according to the complaint. She said he held her against a metal pier pole with his forearm against her neck and throat and hit her a couple of times to quiet her when she began to yell for help, according to the complaint. Afterward, she said, her father told her she had done a bad job and pushed her head under the water, according to the complaint.
The man, formerly of Elkhorn, also was charged in 2013 with sexually assaulting his younger daughter, now 9 years old, when she was 4 years old. The case was dismissed in December 2013 on a motion by the prosecution.
