Cost could determine when City of Whitewater undertakes housing study

Whitewater officials remain supportive of a study assessing the city’s current and future housing needs, but one important sticking point — cost — could play a role in determining when the endeavor is explored.

Housing stock — particularly single-family — has been a common talking point in different factions of the community, from local government to outside civic groups.

Municipal officials have expressed interest in enlisting the services of an outside firm to look deeper into the issue and offer up recommendations on next steps.

Review of a possible request for proposals (RFP) currently is in the hands of the Plan and Architectural Review Commission, and members delved into the matter with City Manager Cameron Clapper and City Planner Chris Munz-Pritchard at a meeting June 11.
