Orchestra to host Lakeside Matinee and fundraiser Sunday

The Lake Geneva Symphony Orchestra returns to Music by the Lake to present an afternoon of movie music for the entire family at 4 p.m., Sunday, June 24.

Listen as the orchestra performs the scores to well-known films, such as “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Forrest Gump,” “Superman,” “Lord of the Rings,” “Frozen,” “Gladiator” and “Star Wars.”

Now in its 18th season, the Lake Geneva Symphony Orchestra, under the leadership of music director David Anderson and concertmaster Lisa Gauslow, features musicians from southeastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois.

Tickets for the concert are $15. Music by the Lake is on the campus of George Williams College of Aurora University in Williams Bay.

Following the concert, at roughly 6 p.m., the LGSO will host Simple Summer Splash at Simple Café in Lake Geneva.

It will feature “tasty creations” from Simple Café and the talents of LGSO members and friends. Tickets include food; a cash bar featuring a variety of beer and wine will also be available.

The event will raise money for the LGSO to allow it to continue offering concerts as well as educational opportunities for local students of the arts.
