A job well done

Town of Sharon Public Works Director, Bill Henning (right) retired May 14. He is shown being presented a plaque of appreciation by Town Chairman Rich Brandl.

Henning was a Town Board Supervisor from 1991 to 2005, at which point he was appointed as Public Works Director. Serving the community is a family affair for Henning as his father, Ray, was a Town Supervisor from 1945-2005. Henning will continue to work with the department part-time. Rick Getka has been named the new director.

“We would like to thank Bill for all of his hard work and many contributions to the town. We would also like to welcome Rick to the position. He has worked as the town’s part-time plow driver and helper, has grown up in the town and knows it well. Best of luck, Bill,” a statement from the town reads.
