Daveys, Elkhorn girls relay advance to state

The Davey brothers and a girls 4×100-meter relay will represent Elkhorn Area High School at the WIAA Division 1 State Track & Field Championships today and Saturday at UW-LaCrosse.

The Elks who advanced did so out of a Division 1 sectional meet May 24 at Badger High School in Lake Geneva.

“I am very pleased with our performances in the postseason,” Elks coach Steve Simonson said. “We had a lot of events at the sectional meet that put in great performances.”

The top three in each event at the sectional advance to state. At Badger, Derek Davey won the 400 in 50.28 seconds. Devon Davey finished second (50.85) and qualified for state.

Derek Davey finished second in the 800 in 1:58.11 and also qualified for state in that event.

For the girls, Keyasia Jones, Mackenzie Constable, Madison Page, Isabella Ewan, Shannon Wulf and Karalin Ottman finished second in the 4×100 relay in 50.48 and qualified for state.
