JOHN HITE ESLICK JR.

      John Hite Eslick Jr., 87, of Delavan, passed away May 22, 2018, at Vintage on the Ponds in Delavan.

He was born Jan. 10, 1931, at Chemung Townline in McHenry County.

He went to school in Harvard, Ill. He served in the Army from Feb. 26, 1952, to Feb. 2, 1954, and was discharged from Fort Sheridan, Ill. He received a Korean ribbon with one bronze star, United Nations service medal and a National Defense service medal. He transferred to the Army Reserve in the Wisconsin and Michigan district.

John farmed with his parents in Sharon. On Nov. 9, 1957, he married Carol Schulz from Lake Geneva. He worked for Scharine Bros. in Richmond from 1963 to 1966 then for 14 years at the Walworth County Highway Department in Elkhorn until 1980. He then worked 14 years for Delavan Township from June 16, 1980, until his retirement on June 30, 1994.

He had a repair shop at his home where he kept very busy. He enjoyed family camping and traveled a lot in the summer and saw a lot of the beautiful county. He restored a John Deere B tractor in his retirement.

He is survived by his wife Carol; daughter, Mary; sons James (Deb) and Terry (Linda); and grandson, Adam.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Helen; and sisters Daisy and Violet.

A memorial visitation will be at Briggs Road Evangelical Free Church in Elkhorn from 1 p.m. Thursday until the time of the service at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Alden Cemetery in Alden, Ill.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.
