The City of Elkhorn Common Council voted unanimously in favor of awarding a contract for the construction of the city’s new Department of Public Works facility to Scherrer Construction.

DPW Operations Manager Matt Lindstrom said the city opened the bids for the facility last week and had seven contractors that bid on the project, all of which were close.

“It was a pretty competitive bid actually,” he said.

According to Lindstrom, regardless of some concerns with the bidding climate the bids still came in under budget from the estimate noted by the architect.

Considering all of the alternates, Lindstrom said Scherrer came in as the lowest bid at $5,060,951.
