Carl R. Kester, 82, of Waupaca, died May 1, 2018, at home. He was born Dec. 16, 1935, in Spring Prairie, to the late William and Luella (Leudtke) Kester.

He graduated from high school in 1953. Carl entered the military in 1956, served during the Vietnam War, and eventually retired from the U.S. Air Force.

He married Lorraine Friemoth on Nov. 18, 1972.

In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking.

Survivors include his wife; stepchildren, Daniel (“Uschi”) Friemoth, John (Gina) Friemoth and Peggy (Doug) Paulson; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; siblings, John (Peggy) Kester, Doris (Donald) Anglin, Helen (Mike) Stout, Bertha Kranich, Arlene Monteith and Fred Kester; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was further preceded in death by his stepchildren, JoAnn, Keith and Mary.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 5, at the Maple Crest Funeral Home, N2620 Highway 22, Waupaca. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the services.

Burial with military honors will be at the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
