The Elkhorn Area High School boys tennis team might consider changing its name to “The Road Warriors.”

The reason, according to Elkhorn Athletic Director Dan Kiel, is to wait until warmer weather comes before sealcoating its new tennis courts.

The new high school tennis courts were part of the roughly $23 million referendum voters approved in November 2016.

While the Elks await warmer weather, Kiel said the team will play its matches on the road, and at Four Lakes Athletic Club in Elkhorn.

The tennis courts, however, are not the only new arrival to the program.

Entering this season, the Elks are working a new coach Jeff Bernales, who replaces long-time Donna Neshek after she stepped down.
