Work on Highway 67 near Elkhorn to begin Monday

Beginning Monday, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is scheduled to start a road improvement project along Highway 67 between Highway 50 and the City of Elkhorn.

The DOT is partnering with the city to expand Highway 67 (South Lincoln Street) within the city limits for an incoming development. It features a section from O’Connor Drive to Commerce Court. The city will be doing additional work in the Interstate 43 interchange area and on Commerce, O’Connor and Tasch drives.

The roadway will be improved with a mill and overlay. An additional lane will be placed at intersections to accommodate bypass traffic and right turns. Meanwhile, the bridge over Jackson Creek will receive maintenance and safety improvements.

The roadway will be closed to through traffic but open to residents and businesses along the project, as well as for emergency vehicles. The posted detour is I‐43 to Highway 50.

The contractor, Payne & Dolan Inc., is planning to complete the $3 million project this fall. The schedule of work is weather dependent and subject to change.
