Two displaced by Whitewater residential fire

Two people have been displaced from their home following a house fire Monday night in Whitewater, according to a post by the Whitewater Fire Department on its Facebook page.

At approximately 8:30 p.m., April 9, the fire department was dispatched to a structure fire at 201 N. Esterly Ave.

Members of the crews that arrived first noted heavy smoke and fire on the rear of the structure.

Mabas Box 12-1 was requested to the box alarm level bringing additional resources to the scene and our station. Crews were on scene for approximately two-and-a-half hours for extinguishment and overhaul.

Damage estimates were not available at the time of this post.

“The WFD would like to thank all departments for their quick response and help with the incident,” a fire department official wrote in the post.

Multiple Whitewater units were at the scene.

The department received mutual aid from Palmyra, Fort Atkinson, Milton, Janesville, Lauderdale-La Grange, Elkhorn, Helenville and Jefferson.
