In a change of opinion, the City of Elkhorn Common Council voted 5-1 in favor of engaging Teska Associates Monday night for park planning services for Elkhorn’s Babe Mann Park.

The idea of revamping Babe Mann Park is not a new topic, particularly in recent months as aldermen unanimously denied the engagement of a park planner at a Committee of the Whole meeting in February.

However, after reconsidering the topic at the committee level with Parks and Recreation Director Wendy Meyer in attendance at a recent City of Elkhorn Finance and Judicial Committee, the topic was brought before the full council April 2 and recommended for approval.

Alderman Scott McClory – and chairman of the Finance and Judicial Committee – told councilmembers Monday that at the F & J meeting, Meyer, along with the president of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, strongly supported engaging a planner.
