ROBERT ALAN DAHL

Robert “Bob” Alan Dahl, a lifelong resident of Delavan, passed away March 20, 2018, at the age of 48 following a tragic accident.

He was the son of Merlyn “Red” and Virginia (Cox) Dahl, of Delavan. Bob was born Oct. 26, 1969 – the fifth of the Dahls’ six children. He attended Lakeland School and graduated from Delavan-Darien High School in 1988.

Bob loved his sports, especially the Bears and the Cubs, his several dogs throughout his lifetime and decorating the family home for every holiday. Handing out Halloween candy was a task he particularly enjoyed.               He played on Special Olympics basketball and baseball teams for many years and won a few state championships along the way. Most of all he loved his large family. He would do anything for his family, and for seven years he helped care for his mother full-time. He is in heaven with mom now.

Unbeknownst to his family, Bob had signed to become an organ donor when renewing his driver’s license several years ago. Upon his death many lives were saved through organ donation along with the 50 to 75 people helped through his donation of tissue and bone.

Bob is survived by his father, his siblings Debbie (Rick), Kathy (David), Colleen, Tom (Susan) and Jim (Angie); many nieces and nephews; grand nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles; cousins; and many friends.                    He was preceded in death by his beloved mother in 2016.

Bob was a wonderful son, a great brother, a terrific nephew and a beloved uncle. It is no surprise he continued to give of himself even in death.

A memorial gathering will be April 15 at Betzer Funeral Home, 118 S. Second St. Delavan, Public visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. followed by a private family service at 3 p.m. No reception will take place.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Walworth County Special Olympics.
