LEONARD ‘LENNY 89’ CROSS

Leonard “Lenny 89” Cross, 78, of Old Hwy 89, Darien died at his home on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012.

He was born June 13, 1934 in St. Paul, Minn., to the late Sherman and Martha (Hansen) Cross. He entered the U.S. Army and served in the Korean Conflict. He married Kay McSweeney at St. Andrews Catholic Church, July 16, 1960 in Delavan.

He worked as a mechanic for Pan American Airlines for more than 30 years. He was a life member of the 32nd Division of Red Arrow National Guard. He was a graduate of Teterboro School of Aeronautics in Teterboro, N.J. He was a longtime member of the V.F.W. and American Legion Post 95. He was also a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church.

He loved the outdoors and wildlife.

His wife, Kay; son, James Cross of Long Island, N.Y. and daughter, Julie Cavaliere of Darien, survive him. His foster children, Joe, Paul, Lisa, Mary, Barbara, Pam, and Catfish; all Doty’s sister, Alice Peterson of Glendale and five grandchildren also survive him.

His two sisters, Lois Boviall and Evelyn Cross and two foster daughters, Carla and Monica, further preceded him in death.

Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Dec. 12 at the Betzer Funeral Home with the Rev. James Scheurman officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Andrews Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Dec. 12.

Memorials to St. Andrews Catholic School are suggested. Betzer Funeral Home is serving the Cross Family.
