Voters encouraged to register early for spring election

     Village of East Troy residents are reminded they need to register to vote if they:

  • Are a new resident;
  • Have not voted in four years;
  • Have changed their address within the village; and/or
  • Have changed their name.

Before March 14, voters may register by mail. After March 14, electors must register in-person at the municipal clerk’s office in Village Hall, 2015 Energy Drive until 5 p.m. Friday, March 30.

Electors may also register on-line at MyVote.wi.gov by following the prompts.

When registering, voters must provide proof of residency and their Wisconsin driver’s license number or Wisconsin ID number and their name as it is shown on their license.

In addition, registered voters who wish to vote by absentee ballot in the election may submit a written request to the clerk for an absentee ballot by mail by March 29.

In-person absentee voting will be available:

  • March 12 through March 29, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and
  • Friday, March 30, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Registration is allowed on election day at the polling location, however there is a high turn-out expected and delays may occur so plan accordingly and allow sufficient time for this process on election day. Acceptable proof of residency will be required at that time.

Village officials strongly encourage residents to plan ahead and register prior to election day.

Voters with questions about voter registration or absentee voting should contact the clerk’s office at 262-642-6255, ext. 1478, go to the Wisconsin Election Commission website at gab.wi.gov, or check their voter registration information at the state’s Voter Public Access website at myvote.wi.gov.
