Residents of the Fontana Joint School District will have an opportunity to share questions and opinions with Superintendent Sara Norton at the Fontana PTSO meeting scheduled for tomorrow, March 7.

School Board President Lisa Laing informed the public in attendance at the Feb. 26 school board meeting that at the budget workshop last week, the board discussed the timelines for making decisions not only for next year, but for a five-year plan as well.

“We can’t just plan for next year, and then look at everything again,” Laing said. “We need to look at a farther horizon than that.”

Laing said the board will follow up its planning with another budget workshop slated for March 12, with a goal of having all the information in hand before making decisions.

“So, we’re not making little tiny decisions, but we’re making it all at once as a holistic plan,” she said.

Public input

Laing said the district will be sending a survey out to parents so those who are unable to make meetings have an opportunity to provide input.

It was also noted at last week’s meeting Superintendent Sara Norton will be in attendance at this week’s Fontana PTSO meeting for a question and answer session regarding these issues, allowing the public an opportunity to raise their concerns.

The Fontana PTSO meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the D’aprile Properties at 104 W. Main St. in Fontana.
