Youth art exhibit planned for March 4

Event to take place during annual Band-O-Rama

East Troy Community School District artists in kindergarten through 12th grade will have their artwork on display at the annual Youth Art Month art exhibition, which is open to the public and set to take place in conjunction with Band-O-Rama at East Troy High School from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 4.

The students have spent months preparing for the event, which showcases hundreds of painting, drawings and sculptures in the library and hallways of the high school.

“Transforming the wrestling hallway into a gallery is no easy feat, and takes many hours of hard work on behalf of both students and staff to pull off this massive display,” art teacher Nicole Tentoni said in a press release.

The exhibit is a juried show, and participants of all ages are eligible for the Distinguished Artist Award, which is sponsored by local businesses. In addition to recognition and a small, monetary gift, students have the opportunity to have their winning artwork professionally framed and “adopted” by the business, where the work is then displayed for a period of three years.

“It is always exciting to see such a range of abilities on display all together in one place,” Tentoni said. “This amazing volume of art gives testament not only to the artistic talent in this community, but to the ongoing support and encouragement of this community as it celebrates our young artists.”
