What is Whitewater?

This was a question members of the city’s Community Development Authority grappled with recently during a discussion of branding and marketing Whitewater’s amenities and virtues.

CDA chairman Laurence Kachel discussed past — and, in his desire, future — efforts to market all facets of Whitewater.

A past effort had taken place between five entities, which included the City of Whitewater, University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, Downtown Whitewater Inc., Whitewater Chamber of Commerce and Discover Whitewater.

The goal of collaboration during the past talks, Kachel said was aimed at “not having five entities with five different goals going in five different directions.”

“We need to get it going again because we all do need to get on the same page,” Kachel said. “The left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing, in this case. Everyone’s got their own little playground, and their own little turf. That needs to end. We all should be talking with one another.”
