Lakeland Players to present ‘Moon Over Buffalo’

Almost 20 years later, veteran actors Steve and Joan Hay, of Delavan, return to play the leading roles of George and Charlotte Hay in the Lakeland Players February production of “Moon Over Buffalo.”

The comedy debuted in New York City in 1995 and featured the return of Carol Burnett to Broadway. Similarly, the Hays return in the roles they first played for Lakeland Players in 1999.

Steve Hay has been a member of Lakeland Players from its inception 44 years ago, and Joan Hay became involved in 1984. Joan said

“It is fascinating to return to a role years later to see if you can play it better,” Joan Hay said.

The madcap comedy, was written by Tony Award-winner (“Lend Me a Tenor” and “Crazy For You”) Ken Ludwig.

East Troy’s Mary Hubbard Nugent is directing the play, which features eight actors, including the Hays.

The play will be performed at the Sprague Theater, 15 W. Walworth St., Elkhorn, on Feb. 16, 17, 18, 22, 23 and 24. Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30 p.m. with Sunday matinees at 3 p.m. All tickets are $14 and may be reserved by calling 262-723-4848, or online at www.lakeland-players.org.
