City of Elkhorn may change temporary alcohol license

At its meeting Jan. 29 the City of Elkhorn Legislative and Regulatory Committee voted in favor of recommending the full council approve the removal of the 30-day deadline from Temporary Class B Alcohol permits.

City Clerk Cairie Virrueta said these types of alcohol licenses are issued to bona fide clubs or organizations that want to sell beer or wine at their events.

According to the city’s current ordinance, all Temporary Class B Alcohol permits have to be submitted to the city no later than 30 days prior to the event to be considered for approval. However, Virrueta said that’s often not the case, and she doesn’t feel entirely comfortable turning down license applicants for that reason.
