The Elkhorn Area High School gymnastics team posted a season-high team score and finished second Jan. 20 in the Watertown Gosling Invite at Watertown High School.

“There was a lot of excitement when they announced we were second,” Elks coach Amanda Lockhart said of the meet at Watertown. “We had a few mistakes, and some lower scores on bars, but the girls were able to make up for it on beam. We had some of our best beam routines all season.”

Cameron Jacobson finished second for the Elks on beam with score of 8.750. Elkhorn’s Marlie Lockhart finished fifth (8.55) and Christa Jacobs finished sixth (8.450).

Hartford’s Emily Perkowski won the beam with a score of 8.9.

Jacobson led the Elks with a 10th-place finish on bars (8.2) Ava Truckbroad of the Menomonee Falls/Germantown/Sussex Hamilton combined team won the event (9.175).

Marlie Lockhart finished eighth in the floor exercise (8.825) Hartford’s Annie Mularski won the event with a score of 9.525.

Kailei West finished seventh in the vault for the Elks. Mularski and Watertown’s Katie Curtis tied for first in the event (9.2).

Elkhorn’s Brianna Taylor finished fifth in the all-around (33.575). Jacobson finished sixth (33.425) Perkowski won the all-around title with a score of 36.125.

“It was exciting to have Cammi, Marlie, and Brianna all take home medals for varsity,” Amanda Lockhart said. “The girls continue to improve, and we are happy with that.”

Elkhorn competes Jan. 29 in a SLC dual meet at home against Whitewater.
