The Elks posted 48 personal best times and routed Delavan-Darien 121-47 Jan. 9 in a Southern Lakes Conference boys high school swimming dual meet at Delavan-Darien High School.

Elks coach Jamie Richardson said posting 48 personal best times in January is no easy task. The Elks are in the middle of a long season, and no one is tapered for the postseason.

Delavan-Darien competed with nine swimmers, and Richardson said she spent time talking to her team about motivation.

“We talked about intrinsic motivation – motivating ourselves,” Richardson said. “Sometimes, there’s not anybody pushing you. I think a lot of the kids were able to do that, and that’s a tough thing to do.”

The Elks will next play host to Whitewater in a SLC dual meet Jan 22.
