Betty Jane Saffran

Betty Jane Saffran, 89, of East Troy passed away surrounded by her family on Jan. 14, 2018. She was born in Hayes, to the late William and Clara Strehlow.

She was married to Norman J. Saffran for 66 years and they were longtime East Troy residents.

Betty worked as a cook for the East Troy School District for 22 years and she was a member of St. James United Methodist Church.

She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and spending time at their cabin up north.

Betty’s kind and gentle ways will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Shepherdson and Lonnie for the wonderful care and comfort shown to Betty. Also a special thank you to Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care and Lynn for all their wonderful care.

Survivors include her loving husband; children, Kenneth, Dawn (Richard) Zur, Terry (Tom) Barham, and Sandra (Bruce) Hansen; grandchildren, Angela (Joey) Keeran, Richard (Amanda) Zur, Kenneth (Catherine) Hansen, Aaron Hansen, Kristie Hansen, and Sara (Steve) Shearier; great-grandchildren, Zachary Zur, Mason Zur and Isaak Hansen; brothers and sisters, Fern Kramer, Marvin (Clara) Strehlow, Curtis (Audrey) Strehlow, Fay (Tom) Stache; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Richard and Joann Saffran, Lloyd and Doris Saffran.

She was further preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Lewyllen Strehlow, Gaylord Strehlow, Roland Strehlow, Beulah Lazansky and Kay Dhein; in-laws, Herman and Margaret Saffran.

Services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17, at St. James Methodist Church, 2945 W. Main St., East Troy. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of services at the church.

Legacy Funeral Services, East Troy, has the honor of serving the family.
