The final score of the Big Foot boys basketball team’s recent home game with McFarland shows a 25-point loss to the Spartans.
But from where first-year coach Jeff Fenrick sat, there were some positives to learn from.
McFarland pulled away in the second half with a 44-29 advantage and cruised to a 74-49 Rock Valley Conference victory that dropped the Chiefs to 2-6 overall and 0-6 in conference play.
“I hate the line that the score can be deceiving, but I thought we played well,” Fenrick said. “We had a couple defensive breakdowns the last couple possessions of the first half that let them expand the lead to 10.
“They were 0-13 from (the 3-point line) in the first half. At the half, they were able to make adjustments to some of the things we were doing, and they hit some outside shots, which loosened up our zone.”
The Chiefs get back to RVC play tonight, Jan. 4, when they travel to Edgerton.
