Three Geneva Lake Arts Foundation artists – Jeanne Hannula, Sharon Larson and Sarah McConnell – will be exhibiting their original artwork for sale at Bragi Coffee House and Wine Bar during the month of January. Bragi is in a new location at 107 N. Walworth Ave. in Williams Bay.

A special reception for the public is planned, including light refreshments and wine, on Friday, Jan. 12, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Following the reception, patrons are invited to stay for live music and dinner, if they so choose.

About the artists

Hannula has studied watercolor since retiring from teaching instrumental music in Illinois. Through membership in the Geneva Lake Arts Foundation, she has attended classes and workshops in watercolor and other media. She has won several awards in Wisconsin Regional Art Project competitions and continues to explore watercolor art and paints widely varying subjects, most of which come from her own photos from both near and far.

Larson has loved and painted the natural world and animals all her life, especially horses. She draws on her own life experiences, including fox hunting, for inspiration, but if she sees something beautiful, she must paint it. She paints large and small, in watercolor, oil and pastel. Sharon is also a watercolor instructor at Gallery 223 in Lake Geneva.

McConnell is a multi media artist who enjoys creating artwork with assorted papers, using both her own mono prints along with assorted found papers. In recent years, Sarah found herself returning more and more to her original medium, watercolors, in order to capture the beauty of nature found in and around Lake Geneva.

All three artists are active in the Geneva Lake Arts Foundation and regularly exhibit and sell their work in the Foundation’s Gallery 223, at 223 Broad St. in Lake Geneva.

Bragi is one of several businesses in the region around Geneva Lake that help GLAF fulfill its mission of encouraging artists and fostering appreciation of the fine arts in the area.

“The participating artists and the Arts Foundation thank owner Sandra Johnson for her support of the arts,” a press release from the GLAF states.
