The East Troy Village Board approved the hiring of a new deputy police chief at Monday night’s meeting.

Deputy Chief Jeremy Swendrowski, who will take over as police chief on Jan. 5 when Chief Alan Boyes retires, offered the position to Mark A. Rather, an officer with the West Milwaukee Police Department.

Swendrowski will be sworn in as Village of East Troy police chief at a ceremony on Jan. 5 at Ivan’s Backstage on the East Troy Village Square. The swearing in will take place during the 3 to 6 p.m. open house to honor Chief Boyes as he retires and Swendrowski’s new role in the village. The public is invited.
