Several buildings in the Whitewater Unified School District were placed on lockdown this morning because of police activity in the area of three of the district’s schools.
According to a statement on the Whitewater High School Facebook page, the Whitewater Police Department requested that the high school, middle school and Lincoln Elementary be placed on a cautionary lockdown due to police activity in those areas.
“The students were informed that hold/lock was implemented to allow the police to complete their work without interruption,” the statement read.
The statement was posted at 8:35 a.m., but shortly thereafter, the lockdown was lifted.
“The police activity was not school related,” the statement clarified.
