ANTON STRICKER

      Anton “Tony” Stricker, 89, of Harvard, Ill., passed away comfortably in his home Dec. 10, 2017.

He was born on Dec. 22, 1927, in Chicago to Anton and Rose Stricker. Tony married Shirley Jane Planzer Dec. 2, 1950, in Hartland, Ill.

He is survived by his sons Kurt (Lori, former spouse), Paul (Laura), Mark (Kim), John (Chris) and Todd (Lindsey); daughter-in-law Shelley; 17 grandchildren, Keslie, Kristin, Taryn, Jeremy, Andrea, Aaron, Alyssa, Shea, Ian, Ashlyn, Alek, Macey, Mikhal, Karson, Kaegan, Sophie and Reid; three great-grandchildren, Lilya, Alexa and Behrett; and life partner for the last nine years, Patti Kyle.

Tony was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Shirley; his son Eric; and two brothers, Rodger and Teddy, Tony’s twin brother.

Tony owned and operated Swiss Maid Bakery and founded Precision Products and The Practical Baker. Tony was a member of the Harvard Lions Club, the Harvard Moose Lodge, the Baker’s Dozen and the American Society of Bakery Engineers. He received the Retail Bakers of America Emeritus Award in 2014. Tony was talented in his many trades, which included farming, baking, land development, engineering and video production. He was passionate about his work and hobbies and liked to share with anyone who would listen. Tony will be remembered for his large laugh and infectious smile, his jokes and storytelling.

Tony’s family will have a private burial.

A party to celebrate Tony’s journey through life will be Dec. 26 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Harvard Moose Lodge, 22500 Route 173, Harvard, Ill.
