A Town of Geneva man died Tuesday when the mini-van he was driving on Highway 12 in Genoa City collided head-on with a semi.
Allen Bates, 37, of Geneva Township, died in the crash at about 7:25 a.m. Tuesday in the area of South Road at the Wisconsin and Illinois state line, according to the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office.
Police believe Bates was driving east on Highway 12 when the mini-van he was driving crossed the centerline and crashed head-on with a 2007 Peterbilt semi tractor-trailer.
The driver of the semi, Lazaro Cruz, 49, of Wyoming, Mich., was not injured in the crash.
Bates was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the sheriff’s office.
