An Elkhorn man died Thursday when he lost control of the car he was driving on Dam Road and was ejected when it rolled multiple times.

The single-car crash occurred at about 1:50 a.m. Thursday on Dam Road in the Town of Sugar Creek. The driver, Jeff Myers, 24, of Elkhorn, died, according to the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office.

Myers was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the 2017 Buick Regal he was driving, according to the department. A passenger, Timothy Plucinski, 30, of Elkhorn, survived the crash and was taken to an area hospital with unknown injuries, according to the sheriff’s department.

Police believe Myers was driving north on Dam Road when he lost control of the car and it left the roadway, rolled multiple times and hit numerous trees. Myers was pronounced dead at the scene.

Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash, according to the sheriff’s office.
