The City of Whitewater is working with the state Department of Transportation in updating a study pertaining to environmental impacts at Highway 59 and Newcomb Street.

The area has been eyed as a site of improvements for years, as evidenced by a 2008 study of the area. With work expected to begin soon, both governing agencies are reopening the initial study and making updates, as needed.

“The Department of Transportation is requesting the environmental document and associated agency coordination be redone due to their age,” Public Works Director Brad Marquardt wrote in a memo. “Additionally, curb ramp details needed to be updated and included in the plans.”
